Sea Pixels Maritime Photo Exhibition @ SALA

Details

Finalists and winners of the Sea Pixels maritime heritage photography competition will be exhibited throughout August as part of the South Australian Living Artists Festival (SALA).

The public can view the exhibition in the foyer of the Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources (DEWNR) building on Waymouth Street weekdays between 4-31 August, between 9am and 5pm.

The Sea Pixels photo competition aimed to build a visual library of South Australia’s maritime heritage sites, including more than 800 wrecks scattered around the state.

The finalist photos feature maritime heritage from across the state, including the vessel Pisces Star in the South East, Songvaar Wreck near Port Victoria, the Excelsior and ships’ graveyard near Port Adelaide, and the Ethel on the Yorke Peninsula.

Having photos of our maritime heritage documents the state’s history and allows us to compare changes to wrecks over time.

Due to widespread public interest, a People’s Choice Award category was added with the public voting on their favourite photo from the top 20.

Photos in the exhibition can also be viewed online: www.environment.sa.gov.au/ourplaces/Heritage/maritime-heritage/sea-pixels-photo-competition
